Connecting classrooms with the Jewish Day Primary School

Assalamu alaikum.

I hope that all is well!

We are now working with the Grade 4 class of The Jewish Day Primary School of the Nation's capital in Washington DC!

We have connected our Social Studies classes in studying physical and human characteristics of our class, school and country.

The data will be shared using Google Drive. Each class is responsible for accumulating its data and sharing it.

We will also be sharing pictures and communicating by Skype!

In Faraasha, we will be doing it as a team, each student being given a specific task inshaAllah.

The goals of the partnership (and this unit) with the Jewish Day Primary School are:

Goals

1.  To form meaningful connections between students who live across the globe.

2.  To learn about where and how the students study and live.

3.  To compare where and how people live.

4.  To learn about what different people value.

We will be essentially asking the following questions all year round:

1.  Where is it? (location, place, region, city, country, etc)
2.  What is it like there? (physical environment, climate)
3. What is it like to live there? (jobs, homes, schools, food, religion, clothing, all aspects of culture)
4. How does living there compare to living here?
5. 
   

 We hope that students become more aware of their environment and certainly more active individuals, capable of communicating and sharing their ideas and their findings.
